Guaynabo Federal Correctional Institution is a federal facility in Guaynabo, District of Columbia. The MDC Guaynabo stands on a 250 acres stretch of land with several-level security institutions, a medium-security facility, a minimum-security satellite camp, and a detention center. The institution houses about 1217 inmates, 1098 at the main facility, and the detention and 115 at the satellite camp. The entire facility only holds male security in four main housing units of 310 inmates each. The MDC Guaynabo strives to help inmates with several beneficial programs such as, residential drug abuse program, GED program, ESL classes, vocational training, and literacy classes

Sending a Mail
Inmates at MDC Guaynabo are allowed to receive both general correspondence and special mails. Special mails from the inmate's attorney, for instance, are opened in the inmate's presence while the general ones are inspected before they access them. Inmates can also receive approved publications directly from publishers or recognized vendors such as Amazon as long as such do not facilitate criminal activities.
No unauthorized packages are permitted into the MDC Guaynabo. The only allowed packages are an inmate’s release clothing or approved medical items. The mailing address is:

Sending Money
With inmates allowed to spend about $ 360 each month, they can receive funds into their commissary accounts, which they can use to buy commissary items like stamps, toiletries, over-the-counter medications, etc. They can receive these funds through online means such as MoneyGram and Western Union at a small fee or money orders to the federal money account on the MDC Guaynabo’s FBOP website.
Phone Calls
MDC Guaynabo also allows inmates to make a 15 minutes call to their loved ones through the facility's contracted service provider. However, the receiver should be on the MDC Guaynabo’s approved contact list. The calls can be collect calls or pre-paid calls through subscriptions to the institution’s telephone system but funded through an inmate’s account.
Visiting Rules
Guaynabo Federal Correctional Institution allows the inmates to receive monitored visits from friends and family members. The visits are, however, subject to adjustments in a bid to void overcrowding. Each inmate only has four visitors per session, but children under three years are not included in the count. The main facility organizes the visits on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 8:15 am and 3: 15 PM while the camp allows theirs on Weekends and federal holidays around the same time frame.
